RCF F Series Mixers Overview

Rugged, compact, and fully balanced, topped off with premium quality Italian engineering. Let's take a look at RCF F Series mixers.

What models are in the RCF F Series?

Firstly, RCF's range of compact analogue mixing desks consists of the following models: F 6X, F 10XR, F 12XR, F 16XR and F 24XR. That's a 6, 10, 12, 16 and 24-channel model. This range of mixing desks is pretty standard, as it suits the needs of a range of consumers. You have everything from the ultra-compact six-channel model F 6X to the apex of the RCF F series in the twenty-four-channel model F 24XR.

What features are on the RCF F Series mixers?

RCFs current generation F Series mixers build on the rich analogue legacy of their professional E Series mixers. Entirely conceived and designed by the RCF R&D team, the RCF F series implements the following powerful tools for the musician and the sound enthusiast alike:

EQ Section

The EQ section on the RCF F Series mixers has a modern sound and allows you to shape your tone on each channel. Across all models in the RCF F Series, there is a low-band EQ, a mid-band EQ and a high-band EQ. Each band can be cut or boosted by 15 decibels. To clarify, the low-band EQ is a low shelf centred at 100Hz, and the high-band EQ is a high shelf centred at 10Khz. On the F 6X, F 10XR, and F 12XR, the mid-band EQ is a bell filter in the upper midrange centred at 1250Khz. However, the F 16XR and F24XR feature a semi-parametric mid-band EQ. In other words, there is an extra knob that allows you to sweep through the frequency range to select your desired frequency. From there, you can cut or boost that frequency.

One Knob Compressor

One thing that is becoming more and more apparent these days is the aptly named one-knob compressor. The RCF F Series mixers compressor is transparent. Therefore it won't colour your sound. However, it will limit the dynamic range of any instrument and voice. For example, plug in a microphone or an instrument, set your gain using the input gain control, and shape the sound by adjusting the single compressor knob. Incredibly easy to use, the results are surprisingly musical without compromising your sound.

24-bit Effects

RCF has selected 16 studio-quality effects designed for everyday use.

The RCF F Series features a powerful PRO DSP effects engine with 24-bit effects. For example, the effects available on the RCF F Series mixers are Reverb, Delay, Chorus, Flanger and Echo. In the reverb section of the DSP, you can choose from halls, rooms, plates, and spring reverbs. Consequently, in the delay section of the DSP, you can select mono delay, stereo delay and multi-tap delay.

Forget D.I Boxes. Here's HI-Z

RCF has gone for the plug-and-play element. With the implementation of the HI-Z input on the F 12XR, F 16XR and F 24XR, you can connect low-current musical instruments like an acoustic guitar or bass guitar directly to the mixing desk. For instance, the F 12XR, F 16XR and F 24XR have a HI-Z button that, when pressed, engages the Hi-Z circuit on line channel six.

USB Recording and Playback

You can achieve quality recordings straight to your computer without an external interface or multiple connections. Just plug in a USB lead to a PC or laptop. Select the USB routing on your device, and record CD-quality audio and stereo playback.

Build Quality, Construction and Design of the RCF F Series Mixers

Engineered in Italy, the robust and durable design of the RCF F Series mixers feature plastic bumpers on each side of a sturdy, metal chassis. The layout of the F Series mixers is easy to navigate thanks to the intentionally high-contrast design and colour-coded knobs. Likewise, the controls have smooth usability, and the connections are of premium quality.

Inspired by RCF's previous E Series mixers, the RCF F Series mixers house high-quality pre-amps with phantom power. Moreover, the line inputs are separate, so line-level signals are less noisy than other consoles. As well as this, RCF has armed the F series mixers with a multi-voltage power supply, making it perfect for worldwide use.
