Who is the BLX System for?

This is the perfect wireless microphone system for use in smaller venues and those who are not fussed about having the advanced features as seen in some of Shure's higher end wireless systems. It's also worth mentioning that BLX is also an excellent option for anyone purchasing their first quality wireless system.

What are the Shure BLX models?

There are two transmitter types available on with BLX systems. (the transmitter is the part that sends the wireless signal to your receiver) These are handheld (known as BLX1) and belt pack (known as BLX2). Handheld transmitters are essentially microphones with the wireless transmitter built into the chassis of the mic. You can choose either a PG58, SM58 or Beta 58a version of the handheld mic.

There is only one version of the body pack transmitter, and this is for connecting Shure's headset microphones, lavalier mics or guitar cables to the belt pack.

There are three different receiver options:

  • BLX4 - Single table-top unit. Used for pairing one transmitter.
  • BLX88 - Dual table-top unit. Used for pairing two transmitters.
  • BLX4R - Single rack-mount unit. Used for when you need to mount your wireless system in a rack.

For example, you could choose the BLX4 with SM58 handheld mic transmitter. Or if you need a headset microphone, how about the BLX4 with PGA31 headset mic. This one would use the body pack transmitter.

What is the battery life of the BLX system?

Let's go through some of the specifications of the Shure BLX systems. Firstly, the BLX transmitters have a battery life of up 14hrs from just two AA alkaline batteries. This means less battery changes and more use.
