Electro-Voice Evolve 30M Overview
Thank you for choosing to read our Electro-Voice Evolve 30M Overview. In this blog, Oli will elaborate on the features and specifications of the Evolve 30M Column PA system...
Pro-Grade Components and Design
There's more to the sleek design of the EVOLVE 30M than just good looks.
Is The Evolve 30M Portable?
Even though the Evolve 30M is a full-range column array system, it's easy to take on the road. Four pieces make up the system. These are a subwoofer, a column speaker and a two-piece aluminium pole. The subwoofer weighs 15.8kg, and the column weighs 2.7kg. In addition, included with the purchase of an Evolve 30M is a handy carry bag that holds both pieces of the pole and the column speaker. Therefore, it's simple to transport.
As well as this, a neat touch about the Evolve 30M is that no cables are required to connect the subwoofer and column speaker. The connection passes through the two-piece aluminium pole.
How Powerful Is The Evolve 30M?
Electro-Voice hasn't scrimped when it comes to power. Inside is a robust digital amplifier that packs 1000 watts of output power. Because of this, it has a maximum SPL of 123dB. In other words, a single system is powerful enough to fill a small to medium room.
Column Speaker
Six 2.8" inch neodymium drivers sit inside the column enclosure. As a result, these six drivers achieve silky-smooth high end and ultra-wide 120 degrees of coverage. On top of this, it also provides 40 degrees of asymmetrical vertical coverage. In other words, the Evolve 30M accommodates both sitting and standing audience members.
Subwoofer
The subwoofer of the Evolve 30M is a compact unit that houses a 10" inch driver for producing punchy bass. Electro-Voice uses 15mm of wood to build the enclosure of the subwoofer. In turn, this betters the acoustic performance. So, you'll be able to get a solid bass response. On top of that, the subwoofer weighs just 15.8kg and has a handle for easy transportation.
Digital Mixer
On the back of the subwoofer, you find the onboard digital mixer. Essentially, the mixer is the control centre of the Evolve 30M. On the mixer, six combi-jack inputs accept both XLR and 1/4" inch jacks.
The first four inputs are standard mono Line / Mic inputs. So, you would typically connect microphones to these channels. Channel four also features a HI-Z input. Generally, the HI-Z input is for a device with passive pickups like an electric guitar or bass guitar.
After that, the last two inputs make up a stereo pair on channel 5/6. The markings on the mixer denote this. In addition, channel 5/6 also has a phono input and a 3.5mm AUX input.
Does The Evolve 30M Have Bluetooth?
On the mixer, input 7/8 is a dedicated stereo Bluetooth channel. Therefore, this allows you to connect a Bluetooth-compatible device to the Evolve 30M. Pairing the device is easy. Pressing and holding the channel 7/8 soft key enables Bluetooth pairing mode. As a result, the Evolve 30M will appear on your device.
Can I Connect Another Speaker To The Evolve 30M?
You can use the Evolve 30M alongside other PA speakers. The Mix Out, which uses a standard XLR cable, combines channels 1 through 7/8. As a result, you can send this combined signal to a separate loudspeaker with an XLR input. The AUX Out provides an AUX mix which is a post-fader mix of inputs 1 through 7/8 and doesn't include the digital FX. Or it offers the master output mix. In the master output mix, the digital FX are present.
What is a DSP?
The DSP is the brain of the Evolve 30M. It stands for Digital Signal Processor. Electro-Voices industry-leading DSP allows intuitive navigation of system parameters via a single-knob and an LCD screen. It packs a lot of professional features and it is user-friendly too. For example, setting up is made simple with four presets (Music, Live, Speech, Club), three-band system EQ (low, mid, high), seven-band graphic EQ (in Mixer mode), five user presets (Store and Recall settings), phantom power, visual monitoring of the limiter, input level control and meters, and master volume control.
